The big news has arrived. Well the big news arrived last week but I have time now to let everyone know what the big news is.
Ok so here it is…..for a second consecutive year my wife and I will be participating in the Grandmas Half Marathon. I am very excited and have been doing some training even before I got the news. I have been running between 8 and 10 miles a week. This running has mainly been done on a treadmill and despite the abnormally warm weather, I prefer the treadmill at this point.
I have such a hard time setting a pace and sticking to that pace at the beginning of my training I prefer to have the machine tell me how fast I need to run.
Some benefits about the treadmill are, I can set the speed to run, I can watch TV while I run, and I’m inside.
Some negatives about the treadmill are, I never go anywhere, I have dropped my iPod while changing a song (that is not fun), and when you get off the treadmill your legs feel real funny.
Grandmas Half Marathon is 15 weeks away and I’m gonna be ready. My goal is to run a 10 minute mile, which would be new personal best. My other goal is to finish off that last 3 miles a lot stronger than last year.
For all of those who also got in, Good luck with your training. If you didn’t get in I’m sorry. But you could register for the full marathon. I hear there are still spots available.
