Trips to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) are in full swing and for those making the trip to northern Minnesota a few supplies are definitely needed. But if you are like me, after making a list and checking it twice you may have forgot something real important. Maybe it was a map, or some sort of snack, a canoe paddle, or even a canoe. Well I’m here to let you know about a great store in Two Harbors, Minnesota that can help you with all your camping and canoeing needs. Just to clarify I am not affiliated with this store, but had an excellent experience and the service was outstanding. The name of the store is The Canoeist.
Let me tell you why I would recommend The Canoeist. After planning a trip to the BWCA I was in need of a permit. The departure day I had wanted was already full so my friends and I decided to head out at midnight the next day. It was a 2 hour drive from Duluth to get to our launching site and after purchasing my permits from The Canoeist I asked if we could get the permits after store hours. Without hesitation the salesman said absolutely. I was told to call 30 minutes before I would arrive to make sure someone was at the store. It all went down without a hitch and how convenient it was for me not to have to make a separate trip to get the permits and instead just pick them up on our way through town.
The Canoeist also has an excellent user friendly web site. Being able to purchase supplies online, check sales, and get free shipping are all advantages when shopping online. It is also possible this year to buy some used camping supplies instead of paying extra for new items. Please check em out online or stop in next time you are driving through Two Harbors on your way to the BWCA.
I think it is always important to pass on to anyone a place with great customer service and The Canoeist is one of those places.

Sounds like a cool place. I’ve never been there, but I’ll have to stop in next time I’m in Two Harbors. Thanks for the tip!
You won’t be disappointed. As I get older I am drawn to support local business.
